7 course lute in G. Second hand. Includes Kingham Case
A lovely 7 course lute made me some years ago has come back into my possession for a check over - assisting the owner with selling it on, now. It’s always been kept in its case and really any signs of use are difficult to detect., except for refretting; the condition is fantastic. The Kingham case shows one or two very minor signs of use as you might expect.
Scale length of 59.5 cm , this lute has its back made from 9 ribs of English cherry, showing a heart and sapwood stripe. In between each rib is a fillet line of plum wood.
Nick and pegbox in English sycamore showing some nice figure.
Fingerboard and points in pearwood - which is continued as half-edging around the spruce soundboard.
Plum pegs. Other fittings in sycamore, plum, pear, holly and ebony.
Currently string in Aquila strings (plus nylon top) with wound octave basses. Though the low string holes at the bridge on the 6th and 7th courses are drilled bigger to accept cd red or similar basses.
What I would consider generous spacing at the nut and bridge. Nut width 57 mm. String span at bridge 102 mm.
Kingham case and humidity controller included in the price.
